I picked up this book by Sarah Morgan at a supermarket. I was looking for something easy to read and something with romance – I am a bit of a hopeless romantic! Once I’d read the blurb of the book I was hooked:
“Great friends. Amazing Apartment. An incredible job. Paige has ticked off every box on perfect New York life checklist. Until disaster strikes and instead of shimming further up the career ladder, Paige is packing up her desk.
Her brother’s best friend Jake might be the only person who can help her put her life back together. He also happens to be the boy she spent her teen years pining after, and Paige is determined not repeat her past mistakes. But the more time she spends with Jake, the more Paige realises the one thing that was missing from her world all along: The perfect New York love story…”
Without giving too much away, the story is a typical ‘girl falls in love with successful American CEO but he doesn’t feel the same.’
I read the book in 2 days, and it was a great way of getting myself back into reading. The characters are relatable, and Morgan sets a good pace for the story. I did feel that it was a little predictable in some parts, and that it is fairly similar to other books of the same genre. Nevertheless I loved following the strong, independent character of Paige and how she went from having nothing to having everything.
If you’re looking for a quick read and are a hopeless romantic, then you’ll enjoy this book!
